Richardy, son of Doug and former Haberdashers’ Aske’s pupil, was a first-rate all-round sportsman and represented Middlesex as a seam and swing bowler in 1994 whilst at Oxford University. He played a cluster of one-day county matches, but was never selected for the championship side.
Tall and powerful, he played all his first class cricket for Oxford, a remarkable total of 19 matches while he gained three Blues in 1993-95, coupling those with two rugby Blues. He would have helped Radlett through the highly successful Nineties if his finance job had not taken his time, eventually taking him to Japan in 1998 for two years. His elder brother Mike, an off-spin all-rounder, played twice for Cambridge in 1995 and regularly for Radlett.
